Lucked out in 07 had a buddy who won a radio contest and him and I got to watch the Hips soundcheck and meet/greet.... cool as hell

Yes - if you happen to time it right. Just saw (and heard - the sound was really good) three songs at Upstate Concert Hall from the window.

The coolest thing about the 07 soundcheck was the fact it was more like a rehearsal. Basically the band ran through a couple songs (regulars), In View and Ahead By A Century, then learned and rehearsed the covers to be played on the two night stand in Detroit. They worked through Black Day In July, Cold Metal and Panic In Detroit...the latter of which they couldn't quite get right so they scrapped it after a few tries! Another nice touch during the first phase of that particular soundcheck was Gord just strumming his guitar and singing much of In View, quieter and slower by himself.... Lastly, they all talked and decided to pull out Thugs for a test run. It was played that evening.
