Album release in the U.S.
#1

Just wondering if anyone had any info on if the new album was going to be released in the U.S.? The last two albums I've had to travel to Canada to get them. With the new requirements of crossing the border it looks like I'm going to have to upgrade my license to get across. I really don't want to go through all the hassle if I don't have to.

That's weird - I'd SWEAR I bought WatS at a record store in the U.S. (after buying the MP3s online through Amazon).

The WATS album was sold in the States. For the last two Hip albums the U.S. release date was 2-4 weeks after the Canadian release date. Ordering through maplemusic.com is the best way to get the new Hip CD in the U.S. without crossing the international border.

If you order through Maple Music, they will ship the CD to any address on the Canadian release date. If you live in Canada and are close to Ontario, you will receive your CD in a couple of days. The farther away from Ontario, the longer it takes to get to you.

International mail from Canada to the U.S. can take up to 14 days. You will receive the Hip CD before the U.S. release date, but well after the Canadian release date. If you absolutely must have the new Hip album on the Canadian release date and you live in a U.S. border town, you cross the border and purchase it as I have in the past. (Windsor/Detroit).

Thanks for the info Hugh. I think i'll just go through the hassle of getting my enhanced license so i can cross the international border. I really don't want to wait past the Canadian release date to get the album. Plus it would be nice to have just in case i want to go to Canada for some other reason. Damn you Hip and your awesome music!! LOL

Depending on how much it costs you to renew and/or change your driver's license to an enhanced DL, the other option is a US passport card. Costs 55 bucks and you can use it the same places you could use the enhanced DL; i.e. the Canadian/Mexican border and in the Caribbean if you are taking a cruise and not flying.

Details here:
