So, the NOTL show is coming - great! I plan on grabbing a buddy and taking the old man's truck down to see the show. He's got this cool little camper that just plops in the bed of the truck, so I'll be sleeping there.

What I need to know is if there's anyone in/around the area who knows a good place to park this bad-boy for the night. Ideally I'd park it right at the concert entrance, but I'm not sure if that would be cool for the entire evening .

Any word on overnight parking for just one night only? I would assume any nearby campgrounds would mandate a full long-weekend rental, if they're not already booked to capacity.

If you somehow live in the area and donate a patch of your lawn/driveway for the night, I can promise you free beer, food, and a good time. No, not THAT kind of good time, get your head out of the gutter.

Niagara-on-the-Lake– Organizers for the Saturday, June 30 Tragically Hip concert at
Butler’s Barracks are working with Town staff to keep disruption to residents at a
complete minimum during the lead up to and the day of the event.
A traffic management plan has been developed that includes shuttle services for
concert-goers, one road closure, no parking zones in designated areas and access
passes for affected residents.
Following are some details:
• John Street East will be closed from Queen's Parade/Niagara Parkway to King
Street from 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012, to 1 a.m. on Sunday, July 1,
2012.
• Parking will not be allowed on side streets in the concert area, including:
• Mississagua Street
• John Street West, King Street to Mississagua Street
• King Street from Gage Street to Cottage Street
• Cottage Street from King St. to Rye Street
• Rye Street from Cottage Street to Niagara Street
• Nelles Street
• Castlereagh Street
• Niagara Street from King Street to East and West Line
• Charlotte Street
• Niagara River Parkway-Queens Parade from John Street East to Wellington

• Passes have been created for all residents affected by the closure of John Street
so they will be able to access their property during that time without incident. A
letter to all affected residents will be sent out the week of June 4.
Organizers have been working with staff from various Town Departments to develop
this plan to avoid congestion in that area and to ensure emergency vehicle access
throughout the event hours. Signage will be posted and Niagara Regional Police
Officers have been hired to help with traffic management.
The event site at Butler’s Barracks will be an active work zone from 8 a.m. on Monday,
June 25, 2012, until end of day on Monday, July 2, 2012.
PLEASE NOTE: Once finalized, a map outlining the road closure and no parking zones
will be posted on the Town’s web site.

Cool! We'll just drive until the cops stop us, and that'll be the spot for the evening! Hope it's still there after the concert!

Thanks for the info. Perhaps I'll send Holly there an email and ask if I can park on her lawn.

I wonder if the VIP parking might be a viable option. I mean, they can't tow a giant truck with people in it, right? And they can't force someone to leave if mildly intoxicated, right? I could definitely see us having a few pops after the show.

Really? That's awfully nice of you to offer. Is there some way of easily getting to/from NOTL for the show? While we won't be wasted, we will be most-likely enjoying a few drinks throughout the day which will make driving a bad idea.

I heard rumours of shuttles from Niagara College being in effect. This also might be a good place to set up "camp" for the night.

yup..driving is going to be a really bad idea , there isn't that many options to get into NOTL.. so shuttles would make sense

Yes, I've heard of shuttles going from spots at Niagara College, Brock University, and other places. Details to come, I guess.
