I was in there yesterday and picked up new copies of Phantom Power and Henhouse. My old ones were all scuffed up and skipping all the time. I also grabbed Soundgarden's "Down On the Upside". Always liked that album, and I lost my original copy years ago.

Yea I picked up a few too. $5 is a great deal for Hip CDs. Even the used CD places like The Beat Goes On charges around that much for used and sometimes more.

I firmly believe that all CDs should always be 5 bucks, so you'd think I would be excited about this, but I'm not. I feel like HMV is contributing to the devaluation of the Hip. If people have to pay 25 bucks to hear whatever tripe Britney Spears is peddling lately, they should have to pay that same amount for a Hip CD. They're my favourite band. I don't like seeing their albums in the bargain bin, along with Sugar Ray and The Presidents of the United States of America. They're so much better than those bands.

$25? I'm assuming you're being sarcastic. Most new CDs usually go for about $15 these days. Older catalogue CDs by bands who have been around for decades don't sell as much anymore, so the stores drop the prices in order to try and move units. That's the nature of the biz right now, and it's got nothing to do with how good the band is. CDs in general are dying a very quick death. Sadly it won't be long before physical discs disappear completely from stores.

Perhaps HMV is unloading its supply of Hip cds in preparation for the supposed deluxe re-issues...

In honor of tonight's live webcast, I just purchaysed 8 CDs @ HMV for $5/each. Man, they sound fantastic cranked!

Favorite line of the day so far:

"Like anyone I knew a Dave
Drove a Plymouth Shallow Grave
Said, "My girl don't just walk, she unfurls."

Genius.

Carry on.
