Ron Hawkins- Straitjacket Love
#1

Yet another brilliant gem from Canada's most underrated singer/songwriter. I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's a bloody crime that he never gets the kind of wide attention he deserves. I can't think of too many other artists who are as consistently awesome as this guy. Like clockwork he puts out a new solo album roughly every 2 years, and each one is just as good, if not better than the one before it. Sadly though, his popularity seems to remain stuck in the Toronto/Buffalo area, and with a few die hard Lowest of the Low fans scattered across the country (myself included).

Anyways, I highly recommend that each and every one of you check this album out. You can buy the CD or get the digital version here:

Ridiculously amazing album...another brilliant gem it is for sure! How is he not playing
huge theatres?!?! I saw him play last week at the Drake in Toronto. He's there again on
Wednesday night...needless to say, I'm going again. I hope this album wasn't eligible for
the Polaris, 'cause if it was, it's a crime it wasn't on the long list.

ya know, i kind of like him being our little secret but it kills me that he doesn't get the recognitition he deserves.
every word he writes is pure gold. and i can think of few songwriters with such a gift for melody.

funny little aside - my wife and son had the radio on the other day and my son asks my wife about the song: "is this ron hawkins", to which she answered "no". after a second of quiet thought, he quipped "well, did he at least write it?" lmao
