Fun thread! I still have a bunch of old tickets in my souvenir/concert memorabilia binder. Here's the oldest one I could find. Check out the ticket price, haha. Wow.
I actually don't have many Hip stubs. I still have mine from Charlottetown '99, but they ripped the tickets in half as you were entering the arena...so you can't even really make out that it's The Hip. The only other one i have is Charlottetown '07. The other times i saw them were as an opening act for The Stones in '05, and then at the Festival of Lights in '06 & '08, which they keep your tickets.
I happenned to be in Tucson on businesss and heard on the local FM station the boys were playing at the "Triple W" that evening. I knew of the Hip at that time but likely could not have named one of their songs other then NOIS and BAHD. I decided to get the ticket (US$16) not really knowing what to expect. That was about 160 shows ago.
I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!
