I think there are pay versions of both programs, but I don't think you have to pay to use either. I certainly don't. Dig around Kazaa's page and see if you can't just download it for free...I don't know why the world's most famous free program would start charging.
The biggest problem with Kazaa is all the shiit it brings with it. There's at least 5 things it puts on your comp, and I can't even find some of the adware it put on mine to delete it.

I find Kazaalite to be best. It's free, of course, and also free of spyware, etc. There are plenty of ded links, but if you do a google search you should be able to dig up an operational link.

i agree kazaalite is the best, however to avoid getting any subpoenas etc i'd advise not sharing your files unless someone asks and to avoid making yourself a supernode.

It should be noted that Canadian cannot be sued by the RIAA. It's not nearly as illegal to file-share here as it is in the US. I've been reading about it a lot and, until our laws are drastically revised, there's no danger to anyone in Canada.

That's good to know! I was actually wondering about that!
I am still finding that you have to pay for Kazzalite. Does anyone have a link saved that I could use?

Go here....it lists both free and pay versions, and the free ones say "download now" so I assume you can:

The actual Kazaa I downloaded came from here:

Whats a SuperNode

cratch:
I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

node = focal point for trading. IE, don't share thousands of files at high outgoing transfer rates.

In Canada, it's not all roses. We pay a levy on all recordable media that is "supposed" to cover any revenue that artists/labels lose to people burning downloaded files. This makes a spindle of blank CDR's more expensive here than in the US. (The levy was originally intended to cover lost revenues from people copying the vinyl albums to CD rather than buying the CD version, but the lawyers have argued that it applies to downloading as well!)

Yeah I hate how expensive CDRs are here. It's ridiculous. For really good quality ones you can pay over a dollar each...Office Depot has some 30 spindles for $34.99. I use cheap ones because they have no logos or labels, they're just silver blank writing surfaces, and even they cost $40 + tax for a 50 spindle.
