National Parks Project - Gord Downie
#1

This is a pretty cool project - there is a great overview of it here: http://www.nationalparksproject.ca/stat ... nopsis.pdf

From May to October, 2010, the project sent groups comprised of one !lmmaker and three musicians to a
park in each province and territory, to capture their experience in a short !lm and soundtrack. Each quartet
was selected from the best Canadian talent, with the aim of putting together people that had never worked
together before, in the spirit of exploring unfamiliar ground. Musicians and !lmmakers from across the artistic
spectrum were selected – arena rockers are represented beside avant-garde experimentalists, and directors
range from 30-year veterans to young !lmmakers releasing their first feature film.

***A 13-part half-hour documentary series on the making of the shorts and music in the National Parks Project, narrated by Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip, starts airing on Discovery World March 19. They’ll also screen online at http://www.nationalparksproject.ca.
