A NIGHT WITH GORDON DOWNIE
Posted by mysonty2009 | Filed under Uncategorized
A couple of weeks ago my wife and I received the privilege of watching GORD DOWNIE AND THE COUNTRY OF MIRACLES in concert. The concert took place in a town called Peterborough Ontario inside a nice little venue. The concert was very up close and personal. There were roughly 250 people who attended the concert. My wife and I went with two other couples and we got to sit in the fourth row. Anyways, Gord Downie was awesome. Gord is very talented when it comes to his music and putting on an amazing show. He also takes care of his own effects in the background with some cool and interesting ideas. Gord would use an overhead projector and place construction paper cut outs of various designs and shapes on the overhead. He would then place a glass cooking tray on top of the construction paper design and poor vinegar into the glass cooking tray ( I assume he was using vinegar, but it could have just been water ) and then used different food colourings. When everything was mixed together the vinegar and food colouring would move around and it would create these cool effects in the background while the band played. For each song Gord would change the background and create more interesting and some funny backdrops. Needless to say, we had an amazing time and would definitely appear in Gord’s audience again.
I took a few videos and pics that I would like to share with the BLOG world. They were taking with my blackberry so the quality is not that great but still worth checking out. If you ever get the chance to see GORD DOWNIE AND THE COUNTRY OF MIRACLES live, take my advice and check them out.
I hope you enjoy.
Thanks
