New John K. Samson solo EP coming soon
#1

Got this in my inbox today:

Hi Everyone!

Two exciting things to tell you about:

JOHN K. SAMSON TO RELEASE SOLO EP “PROVINCIAL ROAD 222”

John K. Samson is the acclaimed singer and songwriter for indie rock band The Weakerthans. His three-song solo EP, Provincial Road 222, is the second in a series of recordings exploring streets and highways in his home province. While the first, City Route 85, was a sparse solo recording, Provincial Road 222 takes a more orchestral approach.

Provincial Road 222 by John K. Samson will be released on limited edition 7-inch vinyl and through digital download on September 21, 2010 by Epitaph/ANTI-Records in North America.

Weakerthans Shows in Winnipeg

The Weakerthans: 4 & More, 4 Albums over 4 Nights.
This December, in Winnipeg, the Weakerthans will be performing almost all of the songs in their catalogue over 4 shows. Each show will focus on a specific album along with other favourite songs.

Dec 15th @ The Royal Albert Arms - Fallow plus favourites
Dec 16th @ The West End Cultural Centre - Left and Leaving plus favourites
Dec 17th @ The Pyramid Cabaret - Reconstruction Site plus favourites
Dec 18th @ The Burton Cummings Theatre - Reunion Tour plus favourites

Sincerely,
The Weakerthans

I wonder if these guys are working on a new album? Samson is notoriously slow when he's working on new material, but since he's putting out another solo EP, perhaps he's got some new stuff already in the works for the next Weakerthans record. It's been almost 3 years since "Reunion Tour" came out.

Damn, that almost makes me want to take a trip to Winnipeg in December. Almost.

This is definitely something to look forward to. I'm not sure three songs will keep me going until another Weakerthans release though! I'm looking forward to this documentary they have done which will hopefully find its way to to DVD at some point soon!
