Am I the only one who was a bit disappointed with the sets for the IVL tour? Sure seeing the show live was awesome, but if you went to the both shows in your city (since they played two shows in teh majority of the cities) you could basically guess the set for the 2nd night. They only rotated two openers for the tour, "Silver Jet" and "Use It Up", played a 17 song set most nights with a three song encore, and closed the main set and ecore with either "Little Bones", "Blow At high Dough", or "Fire in the Hole" for the majority of shows.
Like I said, I'm not complaining about the performace at the shows. When bands don't change the sets up, they're usually bang on every night. But would you rather see The Hip change the sets up a bit more, throw in some unreleased songs, do a few covers, and experiment with different openers?
Personally I like the element of surprise and trying to guess what bands open/close with, even if it means them screwing up the song sometimes, or flubbing lyric. I think Pearl Jam's sets this summer spoiled me lol.

I think its safe to say that they'll play 8 or 9 new songs as well as the 8 or 9 shoe ins (ie: NOIS, BAHD, LB, you know... all the fan favourites) and about 5 or 6 unpredictable tunes. After the 'evening with' tour I felt cheated with their bluesfest performance in Ottawa... come on... only 16 songs...

mixed feelings about NOIS, it has been played to death somewhat but the shows i have been to the band doesnt plow through it just to get it over with, Gord has had some very interesting rants in NOIS at the HOB shows in Chicago last July, so i'm torn.

i, for one, have never liked the song. even on the CD i didn't like it.
the fact that it has been played at, probably, 95% of all shows doesn't help matters any.
there are so many other songs that would be a better jam song.
nautical disaster is one. i would love to see them jam out the middle of it and then break into the "then the phone rings...." line.

Ya me too now I feel torn about NOIS after seeing that skydome gig,Man whata show they put on, That one really needs to be put ona DVD, They really hit some serious stride on that night. Gord was so animated, and the crowd looked preety stoked as well,whens the last time he's said that " are you having a good time", A doozy of a gig I'll say that
