Roger Waters and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd performed an unexpected charity gig last night in support of the HOPING Foundation.

It was the first time the pair had performed on stage together since the Live 8 concert in London on July 2, 2005.

They played ‘To Know Him Is To Love Him’ by The Teddy Bears, ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Comfortably Numb’ and ‘Another Brick In The Wall (Part Two)

Gilmour, Waters to team up again

Pink Floyd stars David Gilmour and Roger Waters are set for another onstage reunion after striking a secret deal before their performance at a charity show last weekend.

The rockers stunned onlookers at the Hoping Foundation awareness benefit gig in Oxfordshire, England on Saturday by reuniting to play Floyd favourites Wish You Were Here, Comfortably Numb and Another Brick in the Wall.

Now it has emerged they will take the stage together again later this year - because Waters only agreed to the charity gig when Gilmour promised to play at one of his upcoming The Wall shows in return.

Waters admits he was initially reluctant to perform a rendition of the Teddy Bears' classic To Know Him Is To Love Him at the concert, but was eventually swayed by Gilmour's offer.

Taking to his Facebook.com page, Waters writes: "To my eternal shame I bottled out (refused to play) and told Dave I would happily do 'Wish You Were Here' and 'C. Numb', but that 'To Know him is to Love him' was beyond me.

"Some weeks passed with David cajoling me from time to time, telling me how easy it would be, but I clung resolutely to my fear of failure until one day he made one final entreaty. I quote "If you do 'To Know Him Is To Love Him' for The Hoping Foundation Gig, I'll come and do 'C. Numb' on one of your Wall shows". Well! You could have knocked me down with a feather. How f**king cool!


"I was blown away. How could I refuse such an offer. I couldn't, there was no way. Generosity trumped fear. And so explaining that I would probably be s**te, but if he didn't mind I didn't, I agreed and the rest is history. We did it, and it was f**king great. End of story. Or possibly beginning."

He then adds, "PS. Just heard from David, he will decide in due course which gig he wants to do, it will be a surprise!"

Waters begins his The Wall shows in Canada on September 15.
