[grooveless touque]

I have been wondering this for ages. Stereo is one of my favourite unofficial songs of the Hip's...the pre-Phantom Power version of Escape Is At Hand. But although I have the original NOIS medley from which it came, the standalone version I have gotten from a couple of sources has these terrible, loud black noise bits over four swear words in the song. It's incredibly irritating...I always lose myself in the song and then am jolted back to reality by those bits. That, and it really sounds screwy in my headphones, always have to skip the song when listening to the CDs it is on in my discman.

Who the heck censored this and why?? It's a mid-song bridge and the recording is lower quality, it's not like it was ever going to get played on the radio. Does anybody know? cratch:

I believe you are referring to NOIS/Stereo from the 9:30 Club, Washington, DC, 05/29/1996. It was played on FM radio in Washington, hence the loud bits. As far as I've heard, there's no audience copy available.

I believe there is...I've got the full-length NOIS medley, uncut with no loud black noise...I assume it must be an audience copy, or a staffer at the station kept the original when they censored it.
