I just listened to Easy Tiger and it sounds pretty cool. I never paid attention to his music before, but I don't mind what I'm hearing on this album. Anyone listen to him? Is his older stuff worth a listen?

I am not a fan, but I did download a show for my buddy.
It sounds great and it was recorded by a member of Hipbase, daaave.

I love me my Ryan Adams. You might want to check out his work with the band Whiskeytown, who if I'm not mistaken was his band before he was Ryan Adams and The Cardinals.

Heartbreaker, Gold, and Love is Hell are my favourites, but his entire discography is great... with the exception of Cardinology... that's just me though.
Studio version of To Be Young from the album Heartbreaker...

I used to be a huge Ryan Adams fan, but I haven't been able to get into any of his newer stuff (post-2006). Heartbreaker and Love Is Hell are obvious standouts, but 29 doesn't get enough love in my opinion. Sure, there's the blatant Grateful Dead knockoff opener, but the rest of album shows some solid songwriting.

Love Is Hell is actually one of my favorite albums from the past 10 years - it is a brilliant album - specifically Avalanche which is one of my all time favorite songs.

I hope one day Ryan Adams gets the credit he deserves. Something incredible can be found in all of his releases. I agree, Love is Hell and Heartbreaker are unquestionable masterpieces. I also like Cardinology- listen to the last track 'stop'.

I think he has to be considered one of the best songwriters of this generation. I agree that his output has been hit or miss, but since Whiskeytown (which was incredible in its own right), he has put out 9 albums either solo or with the Cardinals just since 2000, at least 5-6 of which are classics. He's got a limited print metal-influenced album coming out later this year that I'm really curious to check out as well.

Ryan Adams is definitely underrated. Love is Hell is one of my favorite albums of all time and I don't even consider myself a Ryan Adams fan. His stuff can be hit or miss but that makes sense since he's such a prolific songwriter.
His new album was just released on ltd. edition vinyl only. I guess no CD will ever be available but the album includes a download card for a digital copy. It sounds like it won't be your average RA record...probably more like Rock n Roll on 11. If you followed his FOGGY blogs a while back then you know what you're in for. Check it out here: http://ryanada.ms/
Those Foggy updates were great by the way...lots of one off song demos and other funny stuff.
