NEWSFLASH: Hip in Whistler Oct 27/28
#1

As heard on Rock 101 Vancouver earlier tonight:

The Tragically Hip are in Whistler, BC tonight and tomorrow night, Oct 27 & 28, performing two invite-only private concerts to raise money for victims of the Whistler/Pemberton floods last week.

I called the radio station when I heard it to see if I could find out the source of their information and confirm it. The DJ said a fan from Vancouver called him earlier in the evening with the news.

A friend called me last night around 2:00am to say she was at "The Boot" in Whistler watching the Hip. I wasn't sure if I was awake or not, she held out the phone and I heard them playing fireworks! She said she would call back today with details. The Boot is the bar part of the Shoestring Lodge in Whistler, smaller than Lees Palace, used to have live music and dollar drafts on Mondays. Maybe they showcased some more new stuff? I will post details when I get them if nobody else has.

I will definately report on everything including what songs are played. i imagine they will play a couple of new tracks. If they are different from the ones we have already heard like "Josephine" and "Ballroom" i will try and find out the names.

I didnt want to have to stay the night there but i found out the roads are closed from 10pm to 2am, so my report will be alil later than i wanted.

Looks like i will be showing up late to work!

I am so excited.

I will take a bunch of photos and bring you all the 411 tomorrow.

I don't know for sure but it probably had to do with all the work their doing on that road to get it ready for the olympics.

Some of it has to do with readying the roads for the Olympics but on top of that, the floods washed out alot of roads, including a bridge, dropping 3 cars into the water below. Unfortunately, some casualities resulted. Many life-long area residents commented on how they've never seen flooding like that in their area.

Irish Hip Guy: HOW DID YOU GET INTO THIS SHOW!!?? Tell us, tell us Big Grin
