It happened. Ricky wasn't fast enough to stop him, though I assume he stayed up only until Ricky managed to get to him and pull him down. I'm not entirely sure. I was standing against the stage just to the right of his monitors, and when he came over and crouched I thought he just wanted help coming down into the crowd. When he instead leaned forward, I remember having this oh-shit-here-we-go moment and bracing against the stage, my hands in the air. A few seconds later, his foot caught the side of my face as he got turned a little, and it didn't quite send my glasses flying off my face, but I had to grab for them. A guy nearby did lose his, so a few of us spent some time trying to find them, which for me mostly meant fighting like hell to keep enough of the floor up there clear that he could look for them. Amazingly enough, he found them (intact!), and by the time I looked back up, I had completely lost track of Gord, I couldn't hear what was going on because of the screaming, I couldn't see anything, and Gord's mic cable was wrapped around my neck. It was so crazy that it took me a few seconds to figure that out, even -- I kept wondering what the hell was wrong with my neck -- and by the time I did, Gord was on his way back to the stage. I got myself untangled and reeled the cable in a little as he came back, and that was that. It was during M@W, which closed the second set.
I know it's not something he does often, but I didn't think it was the first time ever (first time in many years, maybe) and was curious about it.
