The Hip / LIGHTS Collaboration ???

That was horrible (because of the bass overloading the mics)
But I am intrigued.
Is this girl "LIGHTS"? Is that the name?
Is it her with a token band along with her?
What else can you tell me?

"Horrible" only because of my tiny mic in my camera...
Legally changed her name from Valere Poxleitner to LIGHTS (originally short for "-leitner")
Token band? I don't know, a couple guys who are along for the ride this tour.
See iamlights.com for more info.

I will check it out.
I just meant "token" band because you only mentioned her - so I figure she is the main focus - and I am guessing the support might change every now and then.

I thought she was like 15 years old or something like that - I think her "fanbase" is pretty teenish/highschool age from what I've heard. I have heard her stuff a bit and I really can't stand it. I can not stand that awful autotuned vocal warbling crap that seems to be 1. the most popular thing in music these days and 2. the most god awful thing in music these days. It literally evokes a vomiting reflex in me.
Her manager is Jian Ghomeshi

No offence but i can't imagine the hip doing a duet with her.
I would like to see them do one with Peaches though...

Yes, she could be called "over-produced," but it goes with the genre. An acoustic album by LIGHTS would give her enough street cred to collab with the Hip - she's got the talent.

Can you edit the subject of this thread to include a question mark?

 Yeah, don't want to give everyone on this this board a heart attack.

But in actuality, a tiny hometown band here has made it their goal to collaborate with Lights, and I haven't been following closely enough but I think they did on her last tour through here. So, worlds can collide my friends.

I'm all for colliding worlds... the results can be messy, but always interesting!

I'm all for colliding worlds as well - I just think there are better targets out there.

If she did a collab with The Hip, you would be reading about my actions in the paper the next day.

I've met her before, as she is on an album by my friends, Ten Second Epic, and she's a nice enough gal....

but her music is terrible. Sorry if you feel differently. but ugh.

40% of The Hip "performed" with Lights tonight at Holiday Jam... Along with evey other performer who participated!

Wow. I was impressed by Lights tonight. She sounded to me like Lisa Loeb. I wish her well.
