My Father loves traditional Newfoundland music. Most of his older collections are on cassette. He is having extreme difficulty when trying to put the cassettes on to cds. Any one know an easy way to transfer his tape music to cd? Help would be greatly appreciated? Thanks

Using a PC, you can download & install (for free) "dbpoweramp" - http://www.dbpoweramp.com/download.htm

It comes with an app called "dMC Auxillary Input". You can use this to record audio (as a .wav file - I think you need to buy the Pro Version if you want encoding on the fly) coming in through your line-in jack on your computer, which means all you need is a cable going from the cassette player/stereo to the computer's line-in.

I'm sure someone else has a better suggestion in terms of high-end sound cards & audio gear, but this is probably the simplest & cheapest way to capture the music on your computer.

Once you have the .wav file, you can download & install "CDWave" - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.milosoftware.com/en/index.php?body=download.php">http://www.milosoftware.com/en/index.ph ... wnload.php</a><!-- m --> - for splitting the captured .wav file into individual songs & trimming silence. You can burn the CDs using the .wav files, or you can encode to Flac or mp3 for your archive/library/iPod etc. purposes.

I should note this is my PC method using Windows XP. I don't have Vista/7. On the Mac, I use "CD Spin Doctor" with the same Stereo -> Computer setup.
