Out of curiosity I was wondering if anyone knew how much venues/festivals pay the hip to play a show and if it varies venue to venue. There are sites out there saying how much certain bands are but no Hip.

p.s Just recieved some tickets to London Show for my 19th bday and I am SO jacked!

So, if we get organized and can get a couple hundred people together on a private show it would cost about $100 per person (including inflation and fees for renting a small club). :jump

First off, the cost that is quoted is six years old, and we have no way of verifying whether it is in any way factual. Secondly, what you pay the band is not what it costs to put on a show. Thirdly, if it was that easy, don't you think people with money would be lining up to have their favourite band play their back yard party?

The only party that we can confirm The Hip played is for Jim Balsillie... and it's clear that he has more money than most.

My original private show comment was not meant to be taken seriously, I was just surprised that it was only 15K for Balsillie to get them (if thats waht it was). Between airfare, hotels, meals, drinks (all for 2) I've dropped ridiculous anounts of money on a few Hip roadtrips.

I live on an 80 acre farm in Southwestern Ontario. People could make the pilgrimage to the farm to see the Hip like Woodstock 40 years ago...lol...I know only in my dreams...but to dream is to live.

Do people really think you can have The Hip perform a show for just $15,000???? Venue, sound, lights, security, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, will drive the cost way up.

If it was only $15,000 I'd have The Hip play a party for me every summer, and I'd pick up the whole tab.
