Tonight in Detroit!!
#1

Can't wait to see The Hip tonight in Detroit. We make an event of it, and about 6 of us go to see them fairly regularly. We were at Cobo for Live Between Us, saw them in Cleveland and Grand Rapids at smaller venues. Plenty of times in and around Detroit, and it never get's old. Tonight, we're taking somebody that has never been to a Hip show. I can't wait to watch him convert! Hearing their music is one thing. Seeing it is something completely different.

I too am excited! I am going to the Saturday show but am tempted to get tickets for tonight as well. This will be my 10th time seeing them. I wondered how early people start to line up. I really want to be as close to the stage as possible. I haven't been to many general admission concerts so I have no idea when to get there, maybe you can help!

PS I know the virgin Hipster will absolutely love it!

We're rockin 3 Days o' Hip. Detroit / Detroit / Cleveland. Should be groovy.

If I'd planned better, it would probably be Jane's Addiction in Columbus tonight, then TTH in Detroit and C-town on Sat / Sun...but we'll be having fun either way.

Just kicking myself a little that I am not going to get see Jane's with their full lineup for the first time in god knows how long - 15 years?

At least it sounds like you saw them before - I love perry farrell but have not had the opportunity to see him, yet.
His solo albums are on my playlists regularly and even his one-off Satellite Party is pretty good. I was pissed when they backed out of the Western New York show.
Oh well.

Sorry I had to butt in, but Jane's Rocks!
Now, back to your regulary scheduled thread.

My bad for derailing it...but yeah, I saw them once sometime in the 90's at some festival, but without Avery. Coulda been one of the later Lollapaloozas, but also coulda been the HORDE or one of those other festival types. I can't remember. I do remember they played a rether short set.

We'd make great pets, though - right Dana?

I was wondering the same thing spottrax.

Hip in Detroit Friday & Saturday ---> Cup Finals in Detroit Saturday & Sunday
Hip in Cleveland Sunday ---> NBA Eastern Conf. Finals in Cleveland Monday (maybe)

Spottrax - what's that building in your avatar?

I'd be surprised if there were to be honest. Cup Finals may kinda be a big deal to them.

Its a beautiful day here in downtown Detroit...sunny and mid 60s...I've been spending most of my day walking around hoping to see them from afar...should be great shows tonight/tomorrow and with Windsor just across the river the crowd is always jumping at these shows. I remember back 8-9 years ago?? when they played Pine Knob north of Detroit...school bus after school bus of hip fans from Canada...every couple miles along I-75 you would see one pulled over on the side of the road with people running to the tree line to relieve themselves...good times!

No matter what time you arrive, you can generally weasle up front without much of a problem. As long as you're not trying to get up there with 10 buddies and you're patient, you won't have a problem.

Lots of Canadians come to Detroit for Hip shows, and they are an absolute blast. I don't mean to generalize or stereotype, but Canadians at a Hip show know how to have fun. Friendly, high spirited, Hip loving Canadians really make the Detroit shows something special.

Gonna be a blast!
