Saw Kevin Kane (Grapes of Wrath) Last Night
#1

Hey,

Just thought I'd mention that I saw Kevin Kane (Grapes of Wrath) at a small venue in Waterloo last night and he put on a fantastic show!

Just Kevin and a guitar and he did a set of old Grapes tracks and stuff from his new album (How to build a Lighthouse). He's doing a tour of Ontario and Quebec over the next couple of weeks.

Anyway, as I sat on the couch beside the stage, I kept thinking that this guy should be playing to more people because he's amazing ... well worth the $10!

Tour info is available here: http://www.kevinkane.net/site/

I think he's in TO next!

The Grapes of Wrath were one of my favorite bands back in the day. I've never heard any of Kane's solo stuff. Perhaps I'll check it out.

me too ... he did about 5 or 6 Grapes songs, which sounded fantastic. Also, chatted with him after the show, got him to sign the CD -- seemed like a nice guy Big Grin

This thread has inspired me to go out and find a used copy of "Treehouse". I own the rest of the Grapes catalogue, but for some reason I never replaced my old worn-out cassette copy of that album on CD. Most likely due to the fact that I lost interest in them years ago after they split up. Off to the used record store I go!

funny I posted the same thing last year ... but, once again, had the chance to see Kevin Kane play last night and he was fantastic Smile Oh, and I got some video footage that I plan to upload to YouTube soon.

If you get the chance, check him out in Ontario this week.

From Facebook ...

Me and a couple of my guitars are going (or coming, depending on your perspective) to various places in Ontario between April 21 and May 7 to do some playing:

WEDNESDAY - APRIL 28 (8 pm)
"The Spill" (414 George St. North, Peterborough, ON)
ph: 705-748-6167 for information/tickets
(playing with Sean McDonald - a former Vancouverite like myself - and Matt Jarvis, who I believe is local to the Peterborough region. Come on out and ask him yourself!)

THURSDAY - APRIL 29 (9 pm)
"The Cameron Public House" (408 Queen St. West, Toronto, ON)
(my second night with Sean - along with evening opener Shelby Lamb - and at one of my favorite venues anywhere. Kevin Kane likes this!)

THURSDAY - MAY 6 (8 or 9 pm...you'll have to call. So should I)
"Foster's Inn and Restaurant" (111 Downie St. Stratford, ON)
ph: 519-271-1119 for reservations and information
(I've never been here before but Wyckham Porteous has and he says it's great, so I'm sure that it is: that is why I'm playing here! Yeesh!)

FRIDAY - MAY 7 (doors 8 pm / "show" @ 9 pm)
"The Squeaky Hinge" - somewhere in Sarnia, ON...
(a house gig, though I myself don't yet know where. Guess the details are being dispensed on a "need to know" basis...kind of like a rave!)

I now have a contact email for this gig:

Isn't this deliciously mysterious?!?

I saw the Grapes of Wrath last night at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. Awesome show, and great to see these guys together again. It's the first time I have ever seen the Grapes of Wrath.

These guys were phenomenal, and its good to see just how professional these guys still were after all these years. Very tight. Naturally talented musicians.

Their voices were right on, and their timing was pretty much perfect.

I hope these guys stay together and record a new album.
