It was going to be asked sooner or later. I was thinking of waiting until the album is actually released but I've been so intrugued by the differences in opinion among all of us over which song is our favorite on the new album. i couldnt resist.
In my opinion, A true blue recipie for a "Masterpiece" album is one where there is no definitive best song. Where each song has its own fighters chance at taking that crown and i think we could very well have of those on our hands here (way to early to say for sure. this album is definitely a detattchment from the norm for The Hip and with that, Im sure theres going to be a number of haters along with the lovers in the crowd... as is the case with most things anyway)
So I offer up this poll for those of you who have heard the album to make your choice on which song is your favorite so far. Opinions do change over multiple listens so as you digest the album more thuroughly you can come back and change your vote at any time and hopefully this poll will still be alive and kicking when the album officially drops for the rest of you strong willed souls to make your own choices then!

lol yeah im having trouble picking a difinitive number one, but you pretty much nailed it that i just wanted to see in numbers what the divide among fans really was, and i left it so people can change their vote whenever they want, but to pick one anyway that feels right for now.

I'm gonna need a month or so before I feel like I can answer this question. At the moment it's Country Day, though.

Gimme, gimme
Gimme gimme gimme
Gimme and opportunity, gimme gimme
Put me, put me, put me
put me put me
in the saddle, alright, you'll see
There's new work in the dayroom, I can
lounge online; don't you laugh
I'd sell a giraffe and give you half
Just to occupy my mind
I'll be driven, my eyes always movin'
I'll be riveted to the task, yeah
No smiling, that's important
I will make my face a mask
And I'm thinking, just in passing,
What if this song does nothing?
What if this song does nothing?
Lookin' into the new, new audience world, I'm
emptyin' slots, workin' like a ghost, I
move through huge rooms with no windows and
no girl from Mexico
Gimme, gimme
Gimme gimme gimme
Gimme and opportunity, gimme gimme
Put me, put me, put me
put me put me
in the saddle, please
I'll be driven, my eyes always movin'
I'll be riveted to the task, yeah
No smiling, that's important
I will make my face a mask
And I'm thinking, just in passing,
What if this song does nothing?
What if this song does nothing?
What if this song does nothing?
What if this song does nothing?

"I'd sell a giraffe and give you half" may be the new "Nevermind us purple Italians".

"You better watch yourself", I said to a toasted western.
Best lyric in the history of music

According to my iTunes, i've listened to "Honey, Please" more than any other song on WATS. Hmm... I must be a sucker for the uptempo pop.

Last night I finally caved...I've now listened to the album 10 or so times. So far The Depression Suite seems to be the one which stands out for me, but MM, SR, TLR, LIAF and CD could all get the title in the end...some of this will be better evaluated live (ie. FIMT). I think FIMT could be a decent opener...

One day you'll all wake up and realize Coffee Girl is this album's gem and The Depression Suite is filler.
