My wife and I are flying up from St. Louis for both shows in the Motor City. We plan on hitting a few good restaurants and driving over to Windsor for our first ever foray into Canada. Should be a blast!

Heh, Windsor. You might as well stay in Detroit!

As far as restaurants go, I recommend Sweet Georgia Brown's in Detroit.

Anyone have an extra main floor GA ticket for Saturday? Could meet you outside venue. Would be willing to trade main floor GA ticket friday because I have an extra or cash.

Looks like it will be a rocking night in the Motor City. The Hip and Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals on the same night in the same town.

Maybe you'll get lucky then and get a Lofty Pines Acoustic.
There is a Detroit Red Wings reference in the tune.

Well, I'm hoping to get lucky any night, but I didn't mean that I'll be in Detroit Rock City that night. Maybe the boys will pull it out, you never know. I'm sure they'll try to make it extra special for that night.

And Christmas is the next time you have sex.

I think we need a thread about advice for new parents.
Oh, would you look at that: Advice For New Parents

Looks like a good set list on Friday. Saturday will be my roughly 12th Hip show. First saw them in 1991 at the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor as a warm up act for Eric Johnson. Stupidly, I was partying too much prior to the show and walked in as they started NOIS - their encore. They blew me away! Needless to say, I've made most of the Detroit shows in the last 18 years.

Here is one you can go to the bank on - 50 Mission Cap tomorrow for the first game of the Cup finals. Detroit in 6 by the way. I think we might get a heavy dose of Road Apples and Fully Completely too.

For the life of me I cannot figure out why the boys don't play Another Midnight - it's one of their best songs, just a wonderfully crafted song.....oh well, I'm free to dream.....

Can't wait for tomorrow! Hip and the Cup Final here at the same time. Whoooooooooohooooooooo!

just FYI - Sweet Georgia Brown's (in Greektown) closed a couple months ago. out of towners, feel free to call me if you need restaurant suggestions (or have any Detroit-related questions!).. depending on what you're looking for, I can probably make some good suggestions!! Smile

cheers,
Margo

hi! PEOPLE GOING TO BOTH DETROIT SHOWS - I saw the stats on the home page, but can someone tell me how similar (if at all) they think tonight's show will be to last night? can I abandon all hope now of them playing Grace tonight too? be straight with me! I can handle it ;)

also, any educated encore guesses would be appreciated!!

cheers,
Margo

Historically, on back-to-back nights, they've changed up the setlists pretty good. I think you'll hear Grace tonight. And this year they've really been ripping on it.
