Hi all, I'm brand new the board and wanted to know if they have any kind of signing after concerts? I'm taking my daughter to our first Hip concert in June in Vancouver at the Orpheum and know nothing about them. Thanks

Sometimes, if you don't have a VIP pass, you can wait by the tour van. I've done it a few times and they're always more than happy to sign and meet!
If you're lucky enough and just hang out with the VIPs even though you don't have a pass, they might let you in backstage too (I've had this happen to me a couple of times!). Really, it all depends on the venue's security service.
I know in Edmonton that if they use Druid security, these guys are all 55+, take their jobs way too seriously and won't let you within 50ft of the backdoor (unless you're with girls who are showing some good skin) ! Others will tell you to be respectful and patient, and the band will decide if they want to come and greet you (and the Hip are really good to their fans!).

Yeah, just get out of there quickly and wait by the buses. That's how I got my 10 mins. with Gord Downie talking about Nirvana and weed and singing...

Yeah, by the buses is a good bet. I've only met the (some of) the guys once, but we just hung by the bus/backstage in Groningen in 2007 - seemed to do the trick. There weren't that many people there which probably meant we got more time to chat to Gord D and Rob.

But be prepared to wait. The meeting by the bus is not something scheduled - it just happens as they are leaving the venue and calling it a night.
It may be a wait of an hour or more before anyone emerges, and depending on their schedule they might not have time to stick around.

You flatter me!, I wouldn't say I'm exactly groupie material, being a 50 year old mother of a thirteen year old, whom I'm taking to the concert. I'm just used to Chris Isaak concerts where they set up a table and sign memorabilia and chat with the fans after every concert. I suppose you wouldn't like to meet the band and shoot the sh#t, maybe shake their hand and show some appreciation for the music? Too bad, I think some bands actually like that their fans want to talk to them. Oh well, one less person to get in my way as I'm waiting by the bus.
