I bought In Violet Light last week and found the card for "The Hip Club" which is no more. There were 3 downloads available for free (which I feel I am entitled to since I bought the CD new). Are these 3 songs available anywhere?

Please note: I am only interested in LEGAL downloads. (I found the other 2 songs at this website, but am doubt these are legal) http://www.hipmuseum.com/unreleased.html.

Do the hip have these on their website anywhere? Can they be found at itunes/zune marketplace/amazon/etc?

I am a Canuck living in the states for the last 10 years. On my last trip to Canada, I decided to hit HMV to catch up on some Canadian bands I used to listen to. Bought In Violet Light, In Between Evolutions, World Contaner, Yer Favourites, and That Night In Toronto (I already have all the older stuff). I was a little miffed about the 3 AWOL songs!

Also picked up a Spirit of the West compilation, and a Great Big Sea CD/DVD. Almost got the latest from The Tea Party (from my hometown) and Our Lady Peace, but was concerned by the negative reviews they got.

Great to have a little piece of home down here!

I seriously doubt that The Tragically Hip would mind if people obsessed enough with them to post on a message board dedicated solely to their band swap a few tracks that were available as downloads with the purchase of an album that came out six and a half years ago. I mean, does anyone here not own IVL? If Stephen is doing anything wrong with his site, anything "illegal", I'm pretty sure he'd have been shut down by now because it's been up for years and I'm sure someone (MAv or otherwise) would have contacted him to take the tracks down. Before World Container came out, the band's management asked Chris to remove a live bootleg containing some new songs from his website. If not the band themselves, people close to the band are well-aware of what's going on with us fans and they seem to have no objections on us freely distributing these songs.

Hahahaha, yeah, sorry. I didn't mean to come off like I was angry. I just meant to say that pretty much anything that isn't released on an album is okay to host and link and trade unless the band specifically asks us not to, which is very rare and has only happened once in the 4 years I have been part of and aware of all of these great Hip site. And if they do ask us... You won't be able to find it on any of the major Hip fan sites (this one, Dana's site, Museum After Dark, HipTracker, etc.) because they'll ask nicely to have it taken down and the people who run those sites respect that. Yeah, those were a lot of words for "if it's on that site it's kosher" and I shouldn't have assumed that you knew about that site and its relation to this site and to the band so I guess "That's just screw_ball" is accurate because that's the way I always talk.
