Wondering if anyone can guide me to a free download of a program that will get rid of a Trojan horse,my Norton 360 didn't catch it either.the guy at HP says I most likely have one. He says I need to dump my harddrive and start fresh but I'd like to avoid that if possible,I'm running Windows Vista, thanx all.

I've used it for several years and it's quite good.

I've been using free Grisoft AVG virus protection, it's free and kept me clean for years...

I have run into some very, very interesting/bad viruses over the past couple of months - and mcafee/trend micro/norton/avast/avg have not been able to help me much at all. The free version at the link above has done the trick on some bad, bad stuff.

You think i'd be ok to have Avast and that Malwarebytes or would they interfere with each other?

I run malwarebytes and all of the scanners I listed above on several computers with not one conflict yet.
I have Mal and one other scanner on each computer so 2 per computer.

I had a nasty bit of malware recently (Google hijacker) and ran every virus/malware/etc. scan that I could find to no avail. Eventually, Windows Live Onecare (free trial) picked up the problem and fixed it. I almost considered buying a real subscription but then I found out that I get free Trend Micro from my university. Hopefully it works - also I should just be less stupid sometimes.

I used to use Trend Micro's House call and/or Panda Software - they're both online, so you don't generally use them if you're really euchred, but they're both free -
I stopped because they dont' work properly with this calamity known as vista, or on my Mac.
