Really unpopular opinion time: neither of these songs do it for me. But Long Time Running is an easy choice. Bobcaygeon is very overplayed, and has always sucked. Possibly the worst song on Phantom Power (my fave Hip album).

Really obvious opinion time: both of these songs do it for me. But Long Time Running is an easy choice. The Rules is very shit, and has always sucked. Definitely the worst song on Phantom Power (my fave Hip album after TATH and IVL and Road Apples).

While I don't think Bobcaygeon is such a terrible song, I would have much rather seen the two losers from the last round go at it: Sherpa vs. Flamenco.

I personally think all four songs in question are solid compostitions.

BobC, to me, is the weakest of the four, only because it so closely follows the syrupy, singalong pop-hit formula, and that just doesn't interest me.

LTR also follow a tried-and-true pop-hit formula, albeit from a much earlier era. But i really like that vintage throwback blues-feel, with the delay on the guitar and the heavy reverb on the vocals.

But Sherpa and Flamenco are both so unique....and exquisite....and incredibly beautiful. To me, they exemplify what makes the Hip one of the greatest rock bands in the history of the world.
