I noticed you said "appreciate" more, that makes it a little more interesting. But straight up I like IBE more as an album overall, as much as I really like what the band tried to do with WC it just falls short in a few places for me so it has to be IBE all the way. I find it a more complete album and it never takes a dip anywhere, except for summer, I could do without that one, Night is Forgetting should have taken its place.

I love both, but for me IBE is a better album from start to finish.

Am I the first vote for World Container? I like IBE, but I rarely find myself really wanting to listen to it.

IBE has a rawer sound, which I like. I liked WC more when it first came out but now that it's not new I think it's settled right under IBE in my fav list.

I took the cop-out and voted for neither. Each has its highs and lows for me.
It'll be interesting to see which songs off World Container become regular to semi-regular setlist fixtures. The Hip turned their backs on the majority of In Between Evolution in a hurry. It's just a hunch, but I don't think that will be the case with WC.

IBE feels like an incomplete album. Half the songs are great. Gus, ICBNEN, Mean streak, THOTM, Josephine. The rest of that album is down right bad IMO. I think it's their worst album. Oh yeah, Summer is Killing Us is the single worst Hip song ever!
However, I do give them props for speaking out about the War on that album. I am shocked how little courage most artist have had. I can't think of any major acts that spoke out other than The Hip, Green Day and a single by Pearl Jam.

It doesn't matter how many hundreds of times it happens, but it always amazes me.
Everyone here has such an appreciation and admiration for a particular rock band that we regularly gather in the same cyberspace to 'sing its praises'...yet when we pare our allegiences down to our individual thoughts and opinions on its specific works, we often find that our personal tastes can be so distinctly different.
I, like you, also feel that IBE is 'half an album'....but after Gus and Nashville, our opinions completely diverge.
I don't care much for Mean Streak, I like Josephine even less, and actually have a distaste for ITHOTM.
Yet SIKU is my 3rd favorite on the record. I love it. I'm also big on Are We Family, and I kinda dig Everywhere. Copenhagen would be awsome if the whole song were as appealing to me as the intro lead.
The rest I can live without.

I had to go with World Container, for purely personal reasons, it's the only album released since I became a fan so for me it's more powerful for the excitement of hearing the songs before the album was released and experienceing the build up as I came to learn about the band.

I love the raw sound, and the lyrics IMO are some of Gord's best ( Are We Family? Jospehine, Everywhere)
WC has too many duds/cheesy production. Songs like Pretend, the title track, In View, Fly. Ocean is overproduced. Rink, Kids, Luv(sic), Family are great thoguh

I think they both sound like half an album -- both of them have their share of duds.

I can agree with this. Both albums have pros and cons. I voted for WC because in my opinion, it has more pros than cons.
Plus, I am not a big fan of Vaccination Scar. I have no idea why it was put on Yer Favourites.
