With this last tour being bullfrog powered, I just wondered how many people actually ended up looking into bullfrog power, or switching to bullfrog as their electricity provider?

I wear a Bullfrog button on my bag. I explained to a student in Istanbul what exactly "Renewable energy" is, though I doubt I did a very good job.

I recently started working for a company that develops small scale wind farms across the country. I complete the environmental assessment, planning and permitting for each farm. We have an agreement-in-principal with Bullfrog Power for one of our farms. I was excited when I saw the agreement since I already had a pretty good idea of what Bullfrog was all about, thanks to the Hip!

I looked into it, but it looks like it would pretty much double my electricity bill. I know thats a selfish reason- but it's just not something I can do at this point. Maybe after I get done with my student debt...

I switched our office to Bullfrog Power in March. The extra $40 a month is a downer, but it's a good move for the environment.

That might be why people across Canada aren't totally environmentally conscious yet...It simply isn't financially feasible/advantageous. A shame.

There is absolutely no incentive for me to do it aside from personal satisfaction. The government need to get into the green energy game and provide tax incentives, business opportunities only to green companies, etc. in order to get more businesses on side. Fast.

I've seen billboards around town, and always meant to look into it, but always forgot. Thanks for reminding me - I'm definitely going to switch. For those with the financial means, it seems like a bit of a no-brainer (according to their site: Bullfrog Power costs 2 cents per kilowatt hour, which for the typical Alberta house, adds about 50 cents a day to your overall electricity costs). For those without the financial means, yeah, government incentives would make sense, which is why they will likely never happen. :lol:

The Feds have the ecoENERGY program - http://www.ecoaction.gc.ca/ecoenergy-eco...ex-eng.cfm, which businesses and homeowners can apply for, but its certainly not well-advertised. I'm glad its out there, that's a step in the right direction, but having to personally deal with it on a regular basis, I would say that it still has many kinks it needs to work out.

I was thinking of it, as me and the girl are moving into a house in June. However, comparing what we pay now to what we would under Bullfrog, it would add 3 to 3.9 cents a KWh on our bill, as we pay 5 cents up to a certain amount, then 5.9.

Taking our last bill, it would have cost us an additional $100 or so for 2 months. Given I expect our consumption to increase moving from a condo to a house, I want to wait and see just how much moeny we weill spend on hydro before thinking of switching again.

It's a shame really, that being Green costs more "green"...... That is a huge detterant for a lot of folks....

Tragically Hip teams up with Bullfrog Power for upcoming tour
Canadian leg of Tragically Hip's upcoming Fully and Completely tour will be powered by renewable energy

TORONTO—The Canadian leg of the Tragically Hip’s upcoming Fully and Completely tour will be fully and completely sustainable, thanks to a partnership with Bullfrog Power Inc.

Bullfrog Power, which sources renewable energy from about a dozen sources across Canada, will work with its partner power providers to put 100 per cent green electricity onto the grid to match the power consumption of each of the band’s shows.

The Tragically Hip will play 17 shows in Canada during the tour.

Bullfrog Power has provided renewable energy for The Hip since 2007, and lead singer Gord Downie became one of the company’s first residential customers in 2005.

“Gord Downie is an inspiring musician and incredible supporter of the work that Bullfrog Power has been doing over the years to grow green energy in Canada,” Bullfrog Power vice-president Josephine Coombe said in a statement. “By bullfrogpowering (its) tour, the Tragically Hip (is) taking a really important step to make our vision of a renewably powered future for all Canadians a reality.”

In the past year alone, Bullfrog Power has worked with a variety of artists, including the Sam Roberts Band and the Sheepdogs, as well as the 2014 JUNO Awards.
