I really hope weezer put their best foot forward for the release, their last album was sub-par, I was hoping for something more. Always liked Hayden, Im going to try and catch that London show on the 26th, I havent seen him live in a long time.

Great news! Reading that Hayden is opening for the National in Europe makes me bitter though, as I saw the National at the Commodore a few weeks ago and it was St. Vincent opening for them. I would have MUCH preferred Hayden.

Last I'd heard of Weezer they'd broken up, no? So this is a pleasant surprise.

i reaaly like Weezer, i hope the new album is more back to basics "oldschool" weezer...

in honestly think part of the problem with them last few outings has been that Rivers isn't depressed/troubled any more...good for him....but bad for the art...happens to a lot of em though IMO.

Snagged my Hayden tickets this morning (GA seated...ugh), and very much looking forward to the new album. In somewhat similar news, there's a new Hawksley Workman disc due out on January 29, and he's announcing tour dates next week. Also exciting! Oh, and here's the new Hayden tune. I like!

I have seen Hayden live and, yes, I concur, he is great.

I kind of like Weezer's last album. I guess I'm in the very tiny minority. Big Grin

I'm really liking the new Hayden. It's the same ol' guy, obviously, but he seems to have branched out a little more with the piano and horns. I wonder if he'll bring that stuff along live or just go solo - I won't complain either way!

As expected, the new Hayden record is excellent. His songwriting has always been so consistently good, that the guy can do wrong in my opinion. I've liked every single one of his albums.

I caught his show last night here in Cowtown. Despite being a fan for a long time it's the first time I've seen him in concert. He puts on a great show, and he's got some funny anecdotes.

Particularly got a laugh out of him saying that he needed to change some lyrics in one of his old songs (Bad As It Seems) to "avoid creepiness" (he changed the age of the "girl of his dreams" from 16 to 23).

We had an obnoxious heckler (PLAY INSERT OLD OBSCURE SONG HERE!!!) at the Edmonton show, which resulted in extra hilarity. What made it especially odd is that the guy left after like six songs, resulting in some funny banter at his expense afterward. I loved the Woody story as well. Highly recommended, though that pretty much goes without saying.
