Kind of a trip!! First time buyer, moved in on Oct. 31st with the girl, and I couldn't be happier!!!! Sorry..just had to share

Congrats on your new home, it's fun but a lot of work.
I remember laughing when I signed my mortgage, I was 29 at the time and I was signing a 30 year mortgage.
I was laughing at the fact that I have not even been alive as long as will take me to pay off my house.

since houses prices here in calgary have exploded over the last few years, you can now get a 50 year mortgage. and you now only have to put down 20% instead of 25%...
that takes interest payments to a whole new level...

You can put down less than 20% - but if you do you get dinged with mortgage insurance fees.
