They pulled the same trick in Seattle at the 1999 WTO demonstrations. Cops dressed as "anarchists" with bandannas over their faces started smashing the windows out of a Starbucks. That gave the riot cops the signal to start beating innocent protesters in the head with billy clubs and spraying pepper gas. The Canadian media deserve credit for exposing the reality of the situation.

Last year at a demonstration marking the death of the 2000th American soldier in Iraq, I had a cop dressed in a wig try to convince me to use his pipe cutting wrench on a parking meter. It was hilarious. He was like 50 and had one of those really gay looking cop moustaches.

At Montebello, Quebec Police Inspector Marcel Savard claimed the police were not there to incite anything

"At no time did the officers in question engage in provocation or incite anyone to commit violent acts,"

"One of the extremists gave the rock to one of our police officers and he had a choice to make," Savard said. "He was asked by extremists to throw the rock at the police, but never had any intention of using it."

Yeah, good one, extremists, nice rhetoric..
