So, I thinkthis is the point where I stand up and share with tre group my apparently growing problem...
I think I am addicted to Second Life....

I have an Avatar in SL. I can see how people find it so addictive but for my money it's still a little boring. SL and PS3 Home are the first attempts to create William Gibson's CyberSpace but they come off more like The Sims. I imagine with the constant advancement in computers it's only a matter of time until his vision is fully achieved.

Considering it has 6.2 million registered users, with between 20 to 45 thousand users on each day, you are bound to get a few bad apples in a 'world' where anything is possible.
It is the kind of knee jerk reaction to a problem with society, rather than a problem with a game, that gets people blaming software/music for the horrible incidents that occur, rather than blaming society itself.
I hate to break it to you, but there were paedophiles that pre-dated the Spectrum...
SL are pretty hot on sorting people out for even basic violations (swearing in a non-mature area) and have a <18 area which cannot be crossed over into from either side.
I am sure that this distasteful activity does occur, as does people having regular sex (or a sex that is regular to them)
There are also people building windmills, Amsterdam, boats, planes. the Starfleet Academy (resisting that red jumper, too young to die!) Animals, cars etc. etc...
I chat to people all over the world, dance without breaking toes, laugh and drink and crack jokes that paople are polite enough not to groan too loudly at, and all while I am babysitting the kids with nothing good on TV.
So, don't ban the whole because of one small part, because if that was the case, because of the problem people i our society, we wouldn't have anything else...
