Match-up #46 - It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken Vs. Fireworks
I ask you to listen to the two songs in the match-up Back to Back, and consider the lyrics of the song. Feel free to post an unbiased analysis of both songs in this thread, but please refrain from cheerleading or making predictions for your favourites.

Fireworks is one of those songs i take for granted..i'll skip over it a lot, and forget about it..then one day I'll hear it, and it reminds why i fucking love this band, and how stupid i am to ever skip over it...

I've seen Rink and Ocean three times.
Heck, I've even seen Fiddler's live.
I've never seen Fireworks.

Oh well, I'd rather hear Twist before Fireworks anyways.

I voted Good Life because even though I skip it often, it's a song I do like. It has a nice momentum build up that really carries through well live. Fireworks is an over rated song to me.

This was a tough one for me. I think Fireworks has some of the better rhyming lyrics of any Hip song; but Good Life has way more emotional impact.

for me this matchup boils down to a duel between the lines "in a forget-yer-skates-dream" and "caught in some eternal flexed arm hang"

I find Good Life to be a very boring tune, whereas Fireworks is a catchy pop song that makes me want to sing along.
Easy choice for me.

The first time I heard Fireworks I thought it was the greatest thing ever ... and it's all been diminishing returns since then. It's all so ... jangley.
Gotta go Good Life on this one.

Tough choice I like them both equally
so I will choose based on the fact that I like the IAGLIYDW acronym better

It scares me to say that I had to pick Fireworks even though the hockey references go right over my head...
Come say hi on twitter
