I couldn't decide which forum t'throw this into, but I figured I'd get the best response in this one...

I've got my tickets to the two shows...Anyone else headed? What kind of place is Irving Plaza?

Also, being it my first time in the city, any suggestions on what t'do? (Besides the obvious, visiting Monk's Cafe (Seinfeld) and saying hello t'Gus..)

Finally, and most importantly...Any tips on the best record stores in NYC? I'm sure there's a slew of 'em...But any tips on which ones are worth checking out would be greatly appreciated...Rock and roll.

Clearly, you should hit up Virgin in Times Square...
Expensive but just cool.

Even cooler though is Colony records... and its right on the edge of Times Square.

I'd also recommend going down to Canal Street / Chinatown for an afternoon. I always have fun down there :thumb:

And is there a possible Rangers game when you're there? I guess you don't know yet... but I mean... MSG in the playoffs would be awesome!

Never been to the Irving Plaza, but apparently its in lower Manhattan/Financial district... which is like a ghost town at night/on weekends. But they DO have a McDonald's with a piano player by the Trade Centre during the days

Head to St. Marks Place for record shops and a place to grab a pint.

My girlfriend and I are headed down on Wednesday. My first time on a plane, first time in NYC. We are hitting up Colbert before the Hip on Wednesday night, Jon Stewart the next night, Yankees and Red Sox on Friday night. Trying to pack as much in as possible.
I am so pumped about the trip and, more importantly, my 21st Hip show! Should be amazing!
