2010 Summer Shows/Festivals to look forward to
#1

Theres one for the albums, and without the Hip this summer what is everyone planning on going to see this summer?

Just bought tickets for the Flaming Lips at the Molson Amp, there playing with Spoon so im PUMPED for that.

Also hoping to see Weezer and Arcade Fire at Bluesfest

Downie at Hillside in Guelph

Possibly John Mayer at the amp? Not a huge fan though.

All I have scheduled for the summer so far is May 20th -- Pearl Jam & The Black Keys. Live at the garden!
Man I'm broke... a New York trip is not a smart idea for a student still in the post school, pre- pay check phase of the year.

As a Brit I've always wanted to go to the Austin City Limits weekender, and this year I am Big Grin - although October is not technically summer . No idea of line up, but tickets have been obtained, and flights and accomodation are booked. Fingers crossed about Icelandic volcanoes, and Texas (well, Austin and probably San Antonio for a day or two) here we come. :thumb:

Sasquatch Festival looks amazing this year.

The lineup off the top of my head,

Pavement
Drive-by Truckers
The National
The Hold Steady
Cymbals Eat Guitars
Mumford & Sons
My Morning Jacket
Broken Social Scene
Band of Horses
New Pornographers

And many more I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Big Music Fest, Kelso Beach, Owen Sound ON July 3rd.

David Wilcox
OLP
Matt Good
Hedley
Finger Eleven

Take hedley out of the mix and you got a pretty awesome show...Im actually glad hedley is the headliner so im not forced to watch them. Beach, summer and rock, should be a good weekend. :thumb:

Other than that i dont have much planned yet, still waiting to hear on Virgin Fest (if its still going on) and I hear OLP is toying with the idea of another Summersault tour again.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

I can not believe Hedley is HEADLINING that show. You'd definitely have two very different types of crowds at a show like that.

As of right now...absolutely nothing! Quite a difference from last summer when the Maritimes was flowing with big shows & i took in John Fogerty, Paul McCartney, KISS, AC/DC, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.

I'm keeping an eye on the Halifax Rocks 2010 concert on July 23rd though. Only the pop night on the 24th has been announced so far, but rumored acts for the 23rd include John Mellencamp & Counting Crows. I'm still hoping Magnetic Hill in Moncton has something in store as well...i like the Tom Petty labour day weekend rumor, hoping it happens.

That would be unreal since Id be back on the East Coast for that. How far is Magnetic Hill from Halifax?

I'd guess it'd be somewhere around 2 hours from Halifax to Moncton...someone on here could probably give you a more accurate time.
And at this stage it's just a rumor, no idea if there is anything to it or not. Apparently there is something still in the works for a show on Magnetic Hill this summer (The Rolling Stones played to 85,000 people there in 2005..and the site has since held concerts for AC/DC, The Eagles, Bon Jovi, Tim McGraw/Faith Hill & Alan Jackson/Brooks & Dunn). We're now going into the 2nd week of May & still nothing announced, so if there is a concert this year, you can bet it'll probably be around that time of year.

It's a 2 1/2 hour drive or 4 by the bus.
