My guess is they'll be celebrating Canadas gold medal win and then playing the closing ceremonies to follow. If they do any other suprise shows while Im down here I can only hope to be lucky enough to attend.

Re : hockey house - Im planning to go there for the day of the quarterfinals because I figured that would be the best value for the money.

This city is so alive right now, its really awesome :jump

Maybe the boys should actually skip this one; Alexisonfire played at an Olympic related event last night and 19 people ended up injured, 9 in hospital. The accident occurred as a result of the front barrier collapsing (memories of Grape Jam!!!)

Its hard to believe this kind of thing can happen at an event like this, specially in light of the Luge tragedy.

Having lots of fun at the Olympics here. The LiveCity venues (such as Yaletown, where the fence collapsed) are extremely poorly planned. I'm sure they're practical from the business point of view, but they are very horrible for music-lovers. There are really bad sight lines, and fans of bands have to wait in lines with thousands of tourists who have no interest in the actual band playing (such as last night when I had to wait 1.5 hours to see GRAND THEFT BUS, a tiny band from New Brunswick).

I'm still hoping for a Hip, or at least Gord appearance at Ontario House on the 20th, but I think the Molson Canadian Tent appearance is all but confirmed.

when is the Molson thing supposed to happen? I was at Ontario House last night for Elliott Brood, and I'm not sure that place could handle a Hip show, even a surprise one. I'm having a great time, too, but totally agree that the music venues are pretty sub-par for actual concerts.

From Alison George (GeorgeLatto) on Twitter...

# At the airport awaiting flight to Vancouver. OOOOO. (Olympic rings deconstructed) about 3 hours ago from Tweetie

and then...

# Tragically hip are on my flight. Very cool. about 3 hours ago from Tweetie

The Olympics may soon be getting Hip.

MAv is very silent about this all... Can you comment if the Hip have been rehearsing "Country Day" for the Closing Ceremonies... I suspect something is up! That would be incredible publicity.

Oh man I hope the come out.
I've been raging my Hip Jersey all over the Olympics and getting some great comments.
I was on NBC's Today show yesterday and made it on a tonne.

I just hope they announce something.
I went to Molson Hockey House for opening ceremonies and Bryan Adams played which was fun times.

If the tale of The Hip on a flight to Vancouver is true, maybe they are taking part in the Neil Young event at the QE Theatre? Or maybe they are heading to Hawaii to hang with Bob Rock at his place? Or maybe they are just going to watch some of the games?

Maybe you are the guy that I read about on Twitter:

"ChrisFollett: Worst bit of Canadian gear in the building? A Canada hockey jersey with "The Tragically Hip" emblazoned on the maple leaf."

Did anyone else notice the Hipeponymous-style Gold Birds painted down the Ski Jump ramp?

The "secret show" there tonight is Broken Social Scene, which means I have a dilemma on my hands; Sam Roberts is playing the Yaletown stage. If only the Hip would show and solve this who-to-see problem for me.
