Canadian folk legend Gordon Lightfoot and The Tragically Hip's Gord Downie team up for a Feb. 4 show, titled If You Could Read My Mind, at the George Weston Recital Hall, Toronto Centre For The Arts.

The concert, which will see both Lightfoot and Downie in performance and conversation, is part of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame' new initmate six-part concert series.

The idea is to bring together great Canadian songwriters to explore the source of songwriting and the impact of songs on our culture.

Both the series and the concert will be hosted by CBC Radio's Laurie Brown, and will be broadcast by CBC Radio at a later date.

In addition, the first concert will feature emerging Canadian singer-songwriter Catherine MacLellan.

Tix, $25, $35 and $45, are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 416-870-8000.

Got my tickets. This is awesome. Thanks Dana

Wow. Just this morning I was thinking it would be cool to see the two of them together! hock:

I've got a Row A.

Great find, Dana! Thanks!

[let_me_out]

How did you get row a? I got row u. From pictures it seems like it'll be more than fine. But row A?

EDIT: Wow, I just got row b. Apparently you started something T.Girl. :thumb:

So.... I now have a set of row U on the floors for sale. $83.25 was total bill. Any takers?

See you there in Row A, I can't wait, this is going to be an incredible event.

Sounds cool, but I think I'll just wait at home and listen to it on the CBC. CBC usually streams all of the concerts they record anyways so it won't be hard to find.

Gordon and Gordon? I'm in. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get to Toronto from ottawa in the middle of the winter.

How would you do it in the summer?

I got Row C.

Last time I drove up in the winter (earlier this year for a raptors game), we got stuck in a blizzard on the 401, on the way down *and* on the way back. I said 'never again'...while holding onto the steering wheel with all my strength. Ideally, I want to avoid that sort of thing. So...train, maybe.

Go with the train.

Amazingly I've been driving back and forth regularly between Kingston and Toronto for the past 13 years and only once have I ever endured a snow storm of any significance. Lucky me I guess.

See you at the show!

Just got L.PART, row A, seats 5-6 but I can't seem to match the seats up with the seating chart.

Is anyone familiar with this venue?

I'm not familiar with the venue but I think you are on the right side of this image, Row A in Parterre Left.

OK, that makes sense ... thanks!

I wish there was some indication of whether or not this will be a "full" show. I'd rather not drive all that way if each guy is just doing to play four songs or something. At least it'll be broadcast, if nothing else, but I'm still pretty tempted.

It's hard to say but based on the description of the show I'm guessing this will be a collaborative effort of song and anecdotal story telling, with some questions tossed in from Laurie Brown. Actually, I'm not too concerned about the format; I'm so looking forward to seing these two Canadian musical giants on the same stage I couldn't care if they farted and called it a night.
