#1 will always stay. WATS has quickly become a favourite. #3 and 4 were the only 2 cassettes I owned when I had my first car; they got played a lot; and hearing up to here on vinyl has cemented that. So much raw power on blow and NOIS. #5 is extremely powerful. If I could get my hands on that vinyl I'm sure that would jump to #2 in a heartbeat. #6,7 got me listening to them in high school. #8-11 I feel bad putting them at the bottom. Such good albums. I just ranked as to how much rotation they get in my car.

Looking at this list, I realize that my albums ranked 1-6 are all albums I can put on and play from start to finish. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about any of the albums 7-11.
Looking forward to seeing the stats once finalized :thumb:

maybe because the music is still realitively fresh from the previous 2 albums, i find they haven't hit classic status with me yet and i still gravitate towards the older stuff... i felt the same towards IBE for a few years after it came out too. the freshness of it kinda repelled me after those initial 100 listens in a row when it first came out lol. now IBE has risen to respectability much like a fine wine, its gotten better with age and i expect the same from WC and WATS in the future!

I usually break Hip albums into two tiers in my head. The run from Road Apples to In Violet light which are all basically tied as 'the best', meaning that they are all solid albums straight through with no more than 2 throwaway tracks on each.
Tier two would be Up To Here and the last three albums, which all contain great songs, but I can't think of as consistent records.
That's the easy part, ordering the albums within these two tiers is hard and probably changes from day to day, but this is the best I can do:
1 - Fully Completely
2 - In Violet Light
3 - Road Apples
4 - Phantom Power
5 - Trouble at the Henhouse
6 - Day For Night
7 - Music at Work
8 - We Are the Same
9 - Up to Here
10 - World Container
11 - In Between Evolution
Hopefully I don't regret something here!

EDIT: It seems strange to see D4N and M@W in the middle of my list (two of my favourite records by any band) but the others are just too good!

It surprises me to see Up To Here near the bottom of so many lists.

I've tried explaining this is another 'rank yer albums' thread, but I'll give it another go. Up 2 Here does contain some of the band's best songs (including the band's two most important staples, NOIS and Dough). But great songs never necessarily equal a great album in my mind. There is such a lull in quality after Boots or Hearts until Another Midnight, and not to mention that She Didn't Know is one of my least favourite Hip songs. Still, it's not a bad album, but when compared with the majority of the band's catalog consisting of strong cohesive albums where I don't skip any tracks, this sinks towards the end of my list.

Great job everyone...keep them coming. The more people that share their rankings, the more accurate of a representation the final list will be. (Especially if there are people out there that don't have PP and DFN toward the top of their personal lists)

I do believe to each his own, but in that 'lull' that you mentioned, there's probably one of the best guitar solos I've heard in any Hip song (When The Weight Comes Down).
She Didn't Know is my least favourite from the album, but I don't mind it.
I've always loved the riff in Trickle Down. I'll Believe In You (Or I'll Be Leaving You Tonight) is one of the album highlights for me (I know that's not in the 'lull' that you mentioned, but still I wanted to mention it); it would be a killer song live if it was still in the sets. Everytime You Go is another rocker.
I don't expect Up To Here to be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm just a little shocked to see it ranking so low.
But its no surprise to me to see Phantom Power at the top of almost every list.
