I hope not either....not because I need to hear it every gig, but because it's sort of a tradition and part of their live identity.

Striking it from the set this far removed from the catastrophy would be ultra-uber-hypersensitive, imo.

On one of the Hipeponymous interviews the said "New Orleans Is Sinking lives on!" or something like that. It was put on hiatus immediately afterwards, and a large chunk of time has passed since Katrina. I'm about 90% confident they will play it again. It may just be getting the monkey off their tbacks that will be the hard part.

I'd be all right with not hearing it, but I can understand how it is a fan favorite. Of the 19 shows I've been to, only 1, the Aspen 98 show, did they not play it. Great song, but I'm ready to hear something else in it's place.

I think that they are just going to play it in Canada, and keep it off of their playlist in the U.S.
I remember Gord Sinclair saying that they understand if it doesn't get played on the radio anymore, but that was right after Katrina.

I wouldn't be devestated if it wasn't played either, but the majority of the fans that would go to the concerts wouldn't be die-hards like us. A lot of people probably go to hear the "Big hits", such as NOIS. Whereas me/us, wouldn't really mind if we didn't hear them at a concert.

Don't get me wrong, it/they are still kickass songs.

Infact, I have a long standing "project" where I want to put as many live versions of Vapour Trails together on a CD to achieve my goal of an all Vapour Trails concert.

I kinda hope they don't play it anymore, not because of any sensititivy, or because it's a bad song, but I just think they've played it so much live that they should just start playing one of their many other awesome songs in it's place.

In fact, I'd say that even though these songs are great I wish they wouldn't play songs like NOIS, Blow, Courage, Bobcaygeon, Poets, etc. at every show.

I have no interest in hearing NOIS live anymore unless they start jamming out the middle section again. Downie used to describe NOIS as a "workshop song" where anything can happen, but for some reason they've just stuck to playing the album version on the last couple of tours, which in my opinion has completely drained the life from what was once a magnificent live tune. There are dozens of other neglected songs I'd rather hear in it's place.

I totally agree, they are all great songs but there's just so much other material out there that I would rather hear. It would be cool if they played a few of those songs but pretty much at every concert you can expect to hear every one of those songs. As someone mentioned in another thread, sometimes the bad thing that happens with the longevity of a band is that the setlist becomes comprised almost entirely of hits becuase there are so many and you lose out on those rarities. The London show last year was incredible and they threw in Lake Fever, Scared, Long Time Running, Hiccups/Daredevil, 700 Ft. Ceiling and Twist My Arm.

i totally agree with direwolf on this one, im not reaLy interested in hearing the album version NOIS anymore, its not the same like earlier tours

If they have to end with the same song every night I would hope for Little Bones. That song flat out rocks live.

Unless as stated above... they jam the middle of New O again... thats cool.

I don't like it when they end with the same song, Little Bones is a closer often, and when I hear that song at the end of the concert through the whole thing all I'm thinking about is .... damn this is the last song....

Same when Pearl Jam played YellowLedbetter.
