This is crap! So nobody gets to buy the team. So in other words, the NHL gets to buy the team, eventually. Jim Ballsillie, your time to give up on the Coyotes has come.
The team will have to move, no doubt about it. But, anybody who thinks Bettman will allow them to move to Hamilton, Winnipeg or Quebec are living in a dream world.
This team has another couple of seasons on the desert, then it'll ship off to Kansas City, or Las Vegas. Bettman wants to spread hockey in the US to gain more fans and eventually score a TV deal. Moving a team to Canada won't raise the fan base.

Im not surprised at all about this ruling, i figured it would end this way, the Judge didnt want to take the responsibility on, and i cant really blame him. And you can bet your ass this team will be in Kansas or Las Vegas sometime soon, and it will probably fail just as badly. Bettman is a moron, he should be fired after this, just like this guy says..

And this is exactly why he's being sent down to Hamilton. He's got great potential, but he's immature. He thinks he's already a superstar.

Not the first young player to run into this problem in Montreal.

The NHL won't let Basille put a team in Hamilton because it would kill the Sabres, end of story, sad but true. Half of Buffalo's fan base comes from across the bridge.

To hell (Canada I mean) with them too then, send 'em packin for Quebec City.

Man im on edge, i still dont know what to make of this team. I really hope to hell that Carey Price establishes himself as a legitimate no.1 this year or were totally fucked. I still think we need help down the middle badly, and the defence is a little slow for my liking, Gill and Mara better see limited minutes, and Hamrlik as experienced as he may be is on the decline and needs to go, and he can take his 5.5mil with him. Gainey should have paid up for Komisarek and found a way to dispose of Hamrlik, that one will come back to hurt us I think. Special teams will be crucial this year too, that could make or break this team come April, I hope the PP is strong, if so we should make the playoffs.

I really hope this comes together, or those contracts will kill this team for years to come, unless Gainey can pull of some shrewd deals or get lucky in FA or the draft, but dont count on it. It was quite a gamble and history is not on our side, these quick turnarounds usually dont work well.. (see NYR).

Boston will probably push us around all year again, I bet we only take one maybe two from them all year, Toronto's defence is vast improved and they will be tougher opponents this year. Buffalo is pretty much the same we should have the upper hand on them and as for Ottawa, not sure how good they'll be, if LeClaire plays solid and stays healthy they should be better and in playoff contention. It will be harder for Montreal to make the playoffs this year, our division is stronger than last year.

My prediction is Montreal could easily finish anywhere from 10th to 7th imo. I expect them to finish 8th or 9th. Playoffs are a possibility unless Price pulls a Theodore.

i feel sick.

lol

A lot hinges on Price... i myself am not a believer

Team seems built for the speed game ...and may get punished by some of the tougher opponents ( Flyers , Bruins , etc)

If they go in the shitter ...they need to pull the plug on Gainey

not that I really care , being a Bruins fan

i agree, if this team fails Gainey needs to go.

"I find your lack of faith disturbing"

There will be trades, Gainey's not done reshaping this team just yet, but until markets open up for the players he wants to trade, he's handcuffed.

I have a feeling the Leafs and Habs will be in a battle for 8th place all year. Conveniently, the schedule maker has them ending the season against each other on April 10th...
Reply

When they finished first 2 seasons ago, people were expecting them to miss the playoffs. Last year, habs fans had high hopes for their team's 100th season, planning a parade route all year long, only to see them finish in 8th place overall in the East, just barely sneaking in to the playoffs, and then, as we all know, they got bounced in 4 games by the hated Bruins.

So the way I see it, with all of the so-called experts predicting that the habs won't finish any higher than 8th, they will probably surprise everyone again (except for me), by finishing strong as one of the top 5 in the East.
