Best Hip Intro...
#1

To step up to the plate in baseball?
I am involved in a recreation baseball league, where we will begin playing music for each individual player as they get ready for batting. The first 10-15 seconds of a song will be played every time I'm up to bat. Obviously I am choosing the Hip, but which song shall I use?

The Bastard

Actually most of M@W has great intros to the songs that you could choose.
I prefer the first 10-15 seconds without words - that way you keep others guessing as to what the hell song it was, because they know they know it.

Others with cool "wordless" intros
Born In The Water
I'm A Werewolf Baby
Small Town Bring Down
Looking For A Place To Happen
Fire In The Hole

And make sure you come back and tell us what you pick.

Can't go wrong with the intimidating opening of Pretend

Of course since M@W is the best album they ever did it isn't surprising - no I'm not being sarcastic
I love how The Luxury opens as well
The Darkest One has a great opening
Sherpa, Put It Off, Skeleton Park

I'd have to say that Escape Is At Hand is probably the best one overall in my opinion

not necessarily the best intros, but good for this situation perhaps:

Courage
Silver Jet
Fire In The Hole
50mc

HA! Good one. I'd go with 50 MC with it's solid, loud guitar intro.

Lots of good choices, 100th meridian, Gus, 50MC and others, you gotta pic one that puts you in the right mindset to bat. Though if it was me it'd be N.O.I.S. it's got great musical intro for first 17 seconds, plus when Gord says "Alright" at the 8 second mark, you know everyone in the stands, your dugout and the other team is gonna say it too! After they start rockin out you can probably just lay down a bunt and run it out, but more than likely it'll make you swing for the fence. Whatever song you pick-remember you gotta hear it 4-5 times a night-that's a lot.

One time playing soccer we lost to a team 5-0, and they played B.T.O. "Takin Care of Business" after every goal, God I hate that song.

Yeah, go with NOIS or 50mc. Impossibilium is probably my favorite Hip intro, but that would be terrible to come up to bat to.

My vote goes to either Grace, Too or Gus. Grace may not be greatly intimidating, but the opening kicks ass.

Sometimes the best answer is the most obvious one - NOIS all the way.

Ten Suggestions:

1. NOIS
2. Three Pistols
3. 50 MC
4. IOD
5. Gus
6. Poets
7. Trickle Down
8. The Drop Off
9. LEOTR
10. Darkest One

I think you simpy gotta go with NOIS -- that intro sounds like was made for this.

Suggestions #2-#5 are alternates for the 'blistering guitar riff intro' theme

#6 & #7 are good for the "toe-tappin', 'beat-heavy' intro" theme

#8 just would just sound cool as you're steppin into the box

#9, with that whiny siren-like lead at the beginning seems like a good "announcement" of your AB
