Wow, being new to this site all I thought was that some members on this site may find this article or "comment" from Seattle interesting. In my mind, knowledge is bliss and invaluable. This person was asking a question and I thought people from this site would definitely be a valuable source of information to pass on to the writer. Hmmm, I think I will just be a viewer of the site and not someone who will choose to post comments.

Idunno man, I'd never try to "explain" the Hip to an American. The way I see it, either a person likes real music or they don't. From what I can tell from that Seattle article, the douche just likes to crap over bands for silly things like "they're Canadian."

I can't say for certain but it seems like the bands that come out of America don't have that stellar live show. They just get up, do their schtick and leave the stage. A band born to play live, with real live skills, a frontman who isn't anchored to his mic with a guitar, a band with charisma, improv skills, and swaths of diehard fans....miiiight...miight seem a little strange and foreign.
