I would argue that: "It's not about the money" is the biggest crock of sh*t used by pro athletes today.
Case in point: Zdeno Chara.
"It wasn't the money or that I wanted to run away. I just had to move on."
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Ottawa/2006/07/05/1669199-sun.html">http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Ot ... 9-sun.html</a><!-- m -->
Yet, before that one he gave: "I believe they thought I was going to get an offer around $6 million and then I was going to call them to say I wanted to come back," said Chara. "We had 23 teams contacting us. We had 15 teams make offers and seven teams over $7 million (San Jose, Los Angeles, Edmonton, Washington, Toronto, New York Rangers and New Jersey)."
But it wasn't about the money. Uh, OK.

Shanahan is off to the big apple.. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=170921&hubname=">http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=170921&hubname=</a><!-- m -->
Too bad he turned my Habs down, would of been a good addition to the team. It seems we just keep getting fucked over this off season, what a joke. We seriously need a first or second line centre in the worst way, Im starting to think players just dont want to go there, must be the taxes and the media I dont know. You watch Gainey will go sign some 3rd line bum from another team as a last resort, I feel sick...
Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

I was very glad when i read Brendan Shanahan signed with the Rangers on the ticker last night before i went to bed. Helped to relieve some of the frustration of the motor going in my boat last night, if only for a few seconds.
