So you're saying I should buy the album from iTunes to get the bonus song even though I dont use iTunes and dont have an iPod because I love the band and they've just happened to stay together for a long time and it would be wrong to get it any other way..yeah ok.

Thats a bunch of shit, if you going to make a point at least think before you type.

Preach it brother!

They are not Springsteen, Neil Young, U2.

The band/management need to know there's a limit and they've past it.

They have been letting us tape/record their shows and share there music forever as well as giving us outstanding shows for great prices! You can't go to any bands concerts for any less than what The Hip are finally asking. Not to mention they have been giving us incredible music for over 25yrs do you think we can cut them some slack.

We should be celebrating this time it is not their fault the economy is shit that's our/your governments fault! :nooooo
Amen to that. Not going to like shelling out money for multiple concerts tomorrow, but really wouldn't like the feeling knowing they're performing 10 min away and I'm not there, lol. Economy sucks, nobody has money thats what credit cards are for

Whatever. I've seen them enough times. I've enjoyed every Hip concert, but I'm not paying that kind of ridiculous money to see them again. I'll go for a reasonable price. I know how great they can be because I've witnessed it before. Sorry, but f*ck them if they are charging that much, because I'm not paying. You can say f*ck ticketmaster and whomever else is responsible, but I'm pretty sure the band has SOME SAY in the prices. Overpaying to see The Hip is not worth using a credit card for. I've overpaid once already to see them, and I won't do it again.

With posts like that you're making it hard for me not to like you Tiger, bravo for telling it like it is.

Agreed. Like many of you here, I'm just gonna wait until the bonus tracks leak to the web and just download them for free. I'm going to be buying a copy of the album in the stores and probably spending a crap load of money to see the band on tour. I think I deserve to have those bonus tracks as much as anybody who's getting the album from iTunes or Telus Mobility.

I have bought every Hip album, but if they want to do this stupid sh*t to their fans, then I don't really feel guilty about getting the album for free. Outstanding shows for great prices? I paid $75 to see them in the crappy Civic Centre in Charlottetown ,which was a steep price to say the least.

I'm not sure if I can cut them some slack, actually. They are all wealthy men and gouging the fans in this economy is a bit of a slap in the face, IMO. Just include bonus tracks on the f*cking cd for f*ck sakes. What's with all this Telus and I-Tunes shit anyway?

I paid about $100 to see Neil Young in Halifax, and I might do it again. WORTH EVERY PENNY. I'm not paying that much to see The Hip for the umpteenth time, sorry. When they reach legendary status like Neil Young, maybe I'll think about it.

I dont mind them using iTunes to sell music, but at the least the song(s) should be available to registered members of the bands site. Which I guess is the fan club? What is making 1 or 2 songs avaible to download going to do to the band except endear them to their core fans even more and keep them interested.

I wonder how much the economy and the bands dwindling fanbase/album sales have to do with all this. Small venues higher than usual ticket prices, something isnt right. Unless this is just more corporate bullshit, suck the fans dry and the like.

Woah. Woah. Let's calm down.

I'm as irritated as anyone that you'd have to buy the album three times to get all the bonus tracks, but hey - that's how the music industry is. It's not going to cave to the masses who download shit for free and make it easy to get all this stuff - it's going to charge out the wazoo because it can. You need to remember that Gord Downie did not wake up one morning and decide to force fans to buy the band's new album thrice, and by all accounts he (and the rest of the band) probably hate the idea just as much as you do.

The music industry is corrupt, Ticketmaster is a corrupt monopoly, yeah we all know - but some of you are acting like the fucking band personally wants to screw you over.

Personally these concert prices ($70-90ish plus charges) don't seem that bad considering it's an Evening With *double show* basically. I think a lot of people are neglecting to factor in the length of Hip-time for these shows. (I don't remember how much the Evening With shows in 2000/2001 cost, but if they were less then it was just a great deal.) Having to jump through hoops to get some bonus tracks ticks me off a bit - not so much the cost but the hassle - just because I want a real, packaged copy of the CD for my collection. If it turns out that they are hidden on the CD well then... I'm happy and this was all a misunderstanding. Wink

Thats wishful thinking, but Im sure it would have been mentioned when the tracklist for the album was released. I always prefer hardcopies of albums, at my age cd's are my vinyl so to speak.

I should make clear that an "evening with" show by the Hip is a great thing Im glad they are going that way again, and it probably is worth the 100 bucks, but its just not to me anymore, ive seen this band alot, and i was a bit surprised at the high prices on this tour. but i guess thats just the times were living in. But it doesnt mean we cant complain or vent our frustrations a bit.

What the f*ck are they doing about it? They won't even publicly denounce the gouging prices, even for publicity's sake. At least Pearl Jam tried to fight Ticketmaster.

Nah, lets not calm down. Lets say whatever we feel however we want, like it or not.

Its more fun that way, better than the usual boring crap that gets tossed out around here. I rather hear people go off on topics rather than read someones list of favorite songs that start with the letter L.

Well, I paid about $40 maximum for the Evening Shows in 2000 if my memory serves me correctly . You're telling me the band is worth DOUBLE THAT since the year 2000? $40 is fine. I'd gladly pay that.

Dark Canuck17 Wrote:this all started because people are stealing the music.

That's crap. This started way before people could steal music but record companies just refuse to wake up to the new normal. I've bought every CD the hip ever released, but this telus garbage, the itunes pre-sale, the fact that you have to buy a ticket to get live from the vault 4 on CD, it's kind of pushing the limits of my loyalty. I mean seriously, can anyone explain to me what I have to do to get all the tunes that they're putting out there?

As far as the ticket prices go, I can't really blame them. That's gotta be their bread and butter now, and the fact is they could probably sell out 2 nights at ACC and make more $$, or for that matter charge $200/ticket at massey and still sell out.

I don't know, the live show is on a different level for me. You're paying for that experience that's happening right then and there. But the recorded stuff....., when its soooo easy to get it all for nothing, you almost feel like a chump to jump through all these hoops and pay all this extra dough to get it all.
