According to a very reliable source the Hip had booked out a major Toronto studio in the early fall – Septemberish.

I'm not sure how this lines up with their recording at the Bath House. Wasn't that in the summer? Perhaps they had to do some final touches or had to go back to do some more stuff and this has contributed to the delay.

I know I'm not a regular poster here, but this information is from a very reliable source.

a return of sorts, i never really left, i occasionally kept tabs on what was going on especially when the new album talk started up, I still love my Hip.

As for me since I've been gone (if anyone cares) I spent some time recovering from major surgery then when I was better I went to New York City for a period and stayed with a friend, it was surreal, what a place. Later this year I'm re-locating to Ottawa, thats it.

Back to business..

Hey! did anyone here in Toronto happen to catch City TV news at 11 last night? Gordie played an acoustic set at a waterkeepers gathering and on the news clip previewing what was to come after the commercial break they showed gordie playing a new song! im near positive that it's a new song because it was one of the songs that was played in the first bathouse sessions video! im going to watch them now just to confirm that it was infact what i heard. ill post which song im talking about when i find it in the vid. :wink:

Yesterday (1-30-09), I was listening to my local radio station The River 93.9 FM (CIDR) which broadcasts to Windsor/Detroit. After playing a Hip song, the DJ, Dan McDonald, stated a new Hip CD was completed and it would be released in May 2009. He didn't give an exact date, but most CDs are released on Tuesdays.

If the information I heard from the DJ is true, this would coincide with Chris' concert rumor of multiple concert dates in May 2009 at Massey Hall. As many might recall, The Hip started their WC tour with 4 dates at The Phoenix in October 2006.

Can a firm release date and a possible early single be announced soon?

It has said on wikipedia for a while that the album is set to be released in May.
There's no source associated with that though, so who knows the validity of that.
