The Hip have only ever played one show in Virginia (yes, they play in D.C. all the time but that's a terrible drive). Richmond, VA has recently built 2 new locations: The National and Toad's Place. Both are a perfect size for a Hip show so I hope they consider in 2009.
On a side note: Tragically Hip tribute band "Wheat Kings" are playing again at The Pour House in Richmond tomorrow (Thursday) night.

For the love of God, guys, come to the National. It's nicer than the 9:30 Club (though it of course doesn't have the historicity), and I could mount a grassroots Tragically Hip campaign throughout the Metro Richmond area.
Just out of curiosity, when/where was their one gig in VA? The Norva?

They played the Norva during Music at Work tour, was an amazing show. But they never came back.

I saw them open for Blues Traveler in Charlottesville in 1998. Maybe you're not counting that show since they weren't headlining.
