First, beloved hoser Earl Stevenson jumped ship. Then, Canadian Idol announced that next season they will add Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie as a fifth judge.

Maybe Gord will get his own Reality-Show spin-off like Randy Jackson!

Seriously though, this comes as a huge surprise to me. I've never been the least bit interested in Canadian Idol (Or American Idol for that matter, aside from the auditions) but this will likely see me leave CTV on when it airs just to see what Gord has to say about the contestants. I always find him strangely interesting when he speaks so this should be good to see.
