cratch: What was questionable about Hollweg's hit? He ran him from behind into the boards on purpose, it was plain as day. And Kovalev's hit was a pure elbow to the face in retaliation, no question there either.
Hollweg should be suspended, he's an idiot. Kovalev will probably get a game or two..but who knows with the NHL anymore.
The Habs really should have won that game, but Ill trade it off to beat Ottawa and Toronto this week no problem.
Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

I agree, the Hollweg hit was very similar to Ilya Kovalchuks on Michael Rozsival last week, in which Kovalchuk was given a 1 game suspension. Even though the Kovalchuk hit was just as bad, if not worse, i think that based on his track record alone, Ryan Hollweg will get more than 1 game. According to the announcers yesterday it was Hollweg's 3rd boarding penalty of the year which automatically gets him a 1 game suspension, but i think you can add at least 2 more on top of that.
The Alex Kovalev elbow was pretty vicious too IMO, and i think you could see him get tapped with at the most a 1 game suspension.
Hollweg is a very effective energy player for the Rangers and his line with Blair Betts & Colton Orr play a lot of minutes...Hollweg knows his role and is a valuable player to the team, but he goes over the edge too often and is a dangerous player for sure.
And I think the tides had turned in the game long before the Hollweg hit, as the Rangers had already battled back to score 3 straight goals to tie the game.

skippy the wonder dog Wrote:Well, the good news is McCabe might be back for the Habs-Leafs game Thursday, so if Kovalev is suspended, McCabe will make up for his goal production.
If only it weren't true.

Boy did the Flames ever stink it up last night against the Oil. That was beyond pathetic. This team is so Jeckyl and Hyde it's ridiculous. I still don't know what to make of them. After lighting it up in December, both Iggy and Huselius have been ice cold for the past 10 games and whatever offence we've gotten has come from the 2nd and 3rd lines. And don't even get me started about our shitty PP (0 for 13 over the last 2 games). Ugly, ugly, ugly. These guys better get themselves back in the win column...and soon.

Please, no more games against the West for the Rangers! They are now 0-8 against the Western Conference, losing to Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Minnesota, Colorado, Dallas, Phoenix and Los Angeles. Next up is Anaheim on Thursday, and then they still have a game against San Jose.
Ryan Hollweg was given a 1 game suspension for the hit the other night. I thought maybe he'd get a few games based on his reputation more than anything...but as i said, to me his hit wasn't nearly as bad as Kovalchuks against the Rangers last week, and he only got 1 game.
How did Curtis Joseph look last night?

Wow, Bryzghalov is playing amazingly well in Phoenix.. 20 saves through 2 periods against the Flames tonight and the Coyotes are up 3-0 despite being out shot. That was a great pick up. I knew he was playing well, but there is no question he is clearly the main reason Phoenix is sitting in 8th right now in the West. On another note, great win for the Habs tonight, the Kovalev, Kostitsyn, Plekanec line is absolutely on fire right now.. 9 points for them tonight :thumb:

Emperor,
I think you may have jinxed Bryzghalov. Great comeback victory by the flames last night.
he is a great goalie though
