The elections run on these machines are programmed by one company, LHS Associates, based in Methuen, MA. We know nothing about the people programming these machines, and we know even less about LHS Associates. We know even less about the secret vote counting software used to tabulate 81% of our ballots. We sat and watched it happen again. We are being told that every single research firm, newspaper, television network and exit poll were wrong because the citizens were racists and lied to the pollsters.

Can I just throw in my two cents that I find it extremely depressing that Canadians seem to be generally more excited about these American elections than Americans.

Or more importantly, their own shambles of a government.

That two cents I saved this morning on my bagel and hot chocolate is really making a difference.

I'm personally itching for the Mike Bloomberg/Sam Waterson indie ticket.

Don't let it depress you. Canadians always seem more "excited" about our elections.

Why?

Dunno for sure, but the last time around, I decided that it's because our general elections do, of course, have a level of impact on our northern neighbors (as well as the rest of the world), yet the only hand they have in steering the outcome is through being extremely vocal.

I'd probably seem more "into" it all if I knew I couldn't express myself through casting an actual vote. But since I do get to vote, all I can do is wring my hands moan until it comes time to vote for the lesser of two evils.

I'm an Independent who also finds Huckabee's rise in popularity scary. It's too bad Fred Thompson's campaign never picked up speed. He seems to be the most normal and reasonable out of all the possible Republican candidates. There is way too much emphasis on religion in that race...it's fine if someone is religous, but I certainly wouldn't vote or not vote for someone purely because of that.

I really like Mike as a mayor. I like him as a politician as well, because he says what he thinks, only slightly filtered. And he doesn't come off as a d*ck like our current president when he does so. I don't think he hasa chance in hell in '08 as an indy however.

From what I've seen in the debates, Thompson isn't even close to being reasonable. It looks to me like he's there just to lighten the mood because Thompson did everything but give ACTUAL ANSWERS in the last debate. Of course Thompson doesn't look radical or crazy because he refuses to say anything!!!!

I agree, it is fine if someone's religious. But spirituality -- let alone religion -- is strictly a personal, private matter, and has (or should have) absolutely nothing to with the office of the President of the United States or any other public office.

And I certainly would vote AGAINST someone whose platform rests too heavily on "God" issues, or caters to the interests of the Evangelicals. Plain and simple.
